Methylamines Overview

Methylamines are C1 alkylamines made from the raw materials methanol and ammonia. This reaction results in the three isomers: Monomethylamine (MMA), Dimethylamine (DMA) and Trimethylamine (TMA), which are distilled into clear, colorless gases. Belle’s amines are available as liquefied compressed gas (anhydrous) or as aqueous solutions.

Methylamines are used as raw materials to synthesize many diverse chemical intermediates used to improve or manufacture items that come into people's lives every day. Methylamines are used in a variety of consumer applications, including agricultural chemicals, water treatment, electronics, polymers, pharmaceuticals, oil and gas, and surfactants. See Industries & Applications.

Methylamides Overview

Methylamides, derivatives of methylamines, are created when primary amines are combined with other materials to create new compounds for use in processes distinct from those that use methylamines alone. Belle produces the amine derivatives Dimethylformamide (DMF) and Dimethylacetamide (DMAc). DMF is made from the reaction of dimethylamine (DMA) and carbon monoxide or methyl formate. DMF is a colorless, water-soluble liquid that is widely used as a dipolar aprotic solvent, an additive, or an intermediate due to its extensive miscibility with water and most common organic solvents. DMAc is made from the reaction of dimethylamine (DMA) and acetic acid or acetic anhydride.  DMAc is a colorless liquid, soluble in water and a wide range of organic solvents.

Methylamides are used in a wide range of industrial and consumer applications, including agricultural chemicals, electronics, polymers, pharmaceuticals, and cleaning/disinfecting. See Industries & Applications.
